When considering decision making, there are various opinions because values among the people are diversified in affluent societies of recent years. While some people believe that a person should never make an important decision alone, others do not. I am personally in agreement with the former opinion, for it is more beneficial to make a decision in various points. My answer is based on the following two points.
Firstly, others have different perspectives. That is to say, when we consider something, we view it from some aspects, but not all. Without asking others, we would lose opportunities to consider other aspects. In my case, when deciding a university to matriculate, I first chose universities based on their level because it would be favorable to get a job if I graduate from a high level university; however after consulting with my father, I had second thought about it. He said that level of university is one of factors to choose, but the most important thing was what I would do during my college life. That is, he suggested that I choose universities based on their renown in the field of my curiosity. Furthermore, when worrying about relationship between my friends, I asked my sister, and she gave me a piece of accurate advice. To sum, consulting others provides other aspects of problem.
Secondly, some people have already experienced what we have not experienced yet. For example, when you get interested in studying abroad, you can ask an experiencer for it about lifestyle in a foreign country, communication with others, diet, and so on. Your prospect will be more clear and concrete. In addition, people who already experienced something know what they succeeded and what they failed. Not only can you learn their know-how but also be careful for what they failed. In this way, we should rely on others' experience.
In conclusion, as noted above, others' perspectives and others' experiences are beneficial for decision making very much. Indeed struggling alone is important, but since we tend to have a limited view, it is better for us to consult with others when we make an important decision.
